It’s tough being a Goth.
In some ways it’s great because you can dress in a way that shows how you feel. You can be different, but still fit in with a certain crowd of people. All of my friends are Goths or are into some of the music and clothes. It’s nice being around other people who like the same things as you do.
What isn’t fun about being a Goth is when you get laughed at. Unfortunately, there are a lot of narrow-minded people out there who think that anyone dressing a bit differently must be some kind of freak.
I’m doing an A level course in Art and Design at the moment and I hate having to go into the Common Room. Even when I sit in there with my friends there are still people who will openly stare at me. When I am busy in the Art room everything is fine. The tutors respect me for who I am and I feel comfortable.
The thing is that I’m not a freak; I have feelings just like everyone else has. When people laugh at me or call me names it really hurts. Just because the things I like are different to most peoples’ tastes it does not mean I’m a weirdo.
But the thing is; the more that people stare at me, the more I want to look different! If I have a particularly bad time with people then I tend to dress in something even more Gothic-looking the next day.
And lastly, in my humble opinion all of those who are into a greener lifestyle really need to look at this. This Enigin blog has some really amazing ideas for firms who are concerned about thier environmental impact, I am really digging them right now.
