The Gothic Girl’s Guide To Goodness.

The Gothic Girl's Guide To Goodness.

It can be tough sometimes when you are a Goth. I’m actually very lucky in a lot of ways because I’ve got such good and tolerant parents. They understand me quite well and just let me get on with my own thing. I say I’m lucky because a lot of people seem to think that Goths are all Satanists, junkies or nutters. But just because I wear black it doesn’t mean that I worship the devil, snort coke or chew the heads off kittens. If my parents were really narrow-minded like that then life wouldn’t be a whole lot of fun, would it?

My mum and dad have always encouraged me to do what I want to do. They have taught me that it is what is on the inside of a person that counts. As long as you are a decent human being then it doesn’t matter what it is you wear! If you wanted to, you could go through life each day dressed-up as a giant banana with a cowboy hat.

It is a shame that everyone else doesn’t think the same way. ‘Never judge a book by its cover’ is a very popular saying, but you would never know it from the way that some people behave. If you don’t believe me (or you think I’m exaggerating) then you should try dressing as a Goth sometime and having a walk round town. You will be amazed at how much difference your clothing can make to the way you get spoken to!
